Women's Purse | Evening Bag made from entirely Embroidered indigo dyed hemp with brass shoulder strap - Hmong Ethnic Vintage Textile Unique

Embroidered women's Hand-bag tribal pattern turquoise maroon, purple, red, and white hand, on hand-woven indigo dyed hemp, Hmong hand crafted textile.

This hand-crafted women's clutch has been made from beautiful Hmong tribal fabric, a panel from a traditional spirit skirt, by Alyssa in her studio in Saigon, Vietnam.

The Hemp is grown on the land, in and around Sapa, Northern Vietnam, where the Hmong people live. Once harvested, the hemp is attached thread by thread, by hand, and then spun on a traditional wheel, ready to be strung on a wooden loom, where it is hand-woven.

The hemp is dip dyed over and over again in a vat of fermented indigo leaves, locally harvested, which gives the base of this textile the rich deep blue/black colour.

This textile has a remarkable geometric tribal pattern of embroidered cross-stitch turquoise, maroon, black and white threads, all done by hand. There is also a strip of black velvet on one side, and applique black and white stripe lines, bordering the embroidery.

It would have taken over a year for this Heirloom quality textile to be produced by hand.

The lining in a silky navy blue fabric (bought new) paired with a brass zipper and a bass leaf detail.

The brass chain strap is looped with circular hoops, and joined securely with reinforced hemp.

Although this is a traditional textile, it has a beautiful contemporary feel.

Perfect present for any woman :)

Wonderful as a evening bag or perfect everyday!

One of a kind -- wonderful work which tells a story.
